Península Valdés
The tour leaves from Trelew and Puerto Madryn northeast by national route Nº 3, then taking provincial routes 1 and 2, we get to Carlos Ameghino’s Interpretation Center.
This one is the first point of the tour, where it is possible to see part of the history , the fauna and sea birds of this area.
After, we get to Caleta Valdes, a continental sea elephants reserve. During the journey we will see the natural inhabitants of the Peninsula Valdes: ñandues (American ostriches), guanacos, maras (Patagonian hares), piches (armadillos), fox, shunks, eagles, Patagonian owls, etc. Later we arrive to Puerto Piramide, this beautiful town on the New Gulf with their crystalline waters is the paradise for divers and naturalists.
During Southern Right Whale’s season, from June to December , it is possible in this village to take the whale-watching tour in modern embarkations. This small town has some restaurants which offer international menu and seafood. Next, we go to Punta Piramide, a place of the sea wolves of one hair which are found from December to March.
On the way back we visit on the San Jose Gulf the Birds’ Isle, where it is possible, through binoculars, to watch different kinds of birds in their habitat, such as flamingos, swans, skuas, petrels, seagulls, Antartic pigeons, etc. The isle is at 800 meters from the coast.
Afterwards we return to Puerto Madryn , the point of disembarkation of the Welsh colonists (year 1865). We go through this city and see the only aluminum factory in the country (ALUAR), the fishing industrial park and the deep waters’ wharf “Almirante Storni”. At this wharf tourist ships and international ones dock.
Finally we get to Trelew the last point of the tour

El Doradillo
The area is visited all seasons by a group of mothers with breeding whales. Due to its calm waters and the unusual depth of the coast (due to its high slope), the whales were very close to the beach. This enables the watching of the coast, with a probability close to 95% of animals found only 20 or 30 meters from shore. The sight of the coast is an ideal complement for those who saw whales in boats and an option for those who fear to board.

Punta Tombo and Welsh colony (from September to April)
Part of Trelew and Puerto Madryn in the south, across part of the Patagonian plateau to reach the spot Two Wells, where you can see even a stone construction that was one of the first telegraph office in the early 20th century .. In this area, the proximity of the sea means that the vegetation is different to that seen in the part of the plateau. Throughout the road discover the natural inhabitants of the Patagonian region: rheas, guanacos, Maras, Piche, foxes, skunks, eagles, owls Patagónica etc. Stay through the "Pearl", where in times of shearing (Sept-Oct) you can see the various field tasks they perform, then to arrive at the reserve at Punta Tombo, the largest continental penguin's world, 2 Km . before arriving at the park, you can see the sides of the road, penguins in their caves, and through a pedestrian path, observe carefully the caves, their nests, and the entire colony of Magellanic penguins (approx 1000. 000). In return, we make a brief stop in a small confectionery and health. Return directly Trelew city (in Wales' town of Louis "), where you can visit the Paleontological Museum Egidio Feruglio, continuing the trip to the town of Gaiman (Mapuche" sharpening stone "), a Welsh settlement in the valley bottom of Chubut river, here you can enjoy the typical Welsh tea. Welsh colony ( from may to ½ septiembre):
Departure from Puerto Madryn and Trelew, and arriving Dolavon, Welsh people in that language means "Prado del Rio." Visiting the flour mill, installed in the early 20th century, will have lunch in their restaurant "The Crushing and enjoy homemade pasta meal processed in the same place. Continuing the tour by visiting a Welsh chapel from the 19th century. Arriving at the village of Gaiman (Mapuche "sharpening stone"), another Welsh settlement in the Chubut river valley below, here you can enjoy the typical Welsh tea. Continues until the City of Trelew (Welsh "people of Luis"), where you can visit the Egidio Feruglio Paleontological Museum, ending in the city of Puerto Madryn.

Dolavon and flourmill
Leaving the city Madryn and Trelew, on route No. 25 is the town of Dolavon, which means in Welsh language PRADO DEL RIO in reference to the beauty of its surroundings.
This town is like a city of the nineteenth century and has the only flour mill in the early twentieth century in operation, together with the Norias watering place of the old and the large number of Welsh Chapels are the special attraction for visitors the site.
On July 28, 1865 Welsh immigrants landed on the shores of the Golfo Nuevo, they were of a high diversity of creeds, all Protestants, resulting in the construction of numerous chapels throughout the Chubut River Valley.
In 1896 Mr. William Henry Hughes is the Farm 248 to the call which Dolavon. Between the years 1901 and 1011 entuvieron bandits in this area of America, Butch Cassidy, Sundance Kid and Ethel Place doing business of cattle and cereals (this story can be seen in a photo panel - Explanatory)
The importance of agricultural exports reached in the region is characterized by the excellence of its cereal production, obtaining major prizes at international level. Wheat was very good and was characterized by its performance, its median spike was resistant to the wind and good grain weight. The voluminous output made Flour Mills were installed throughout the area and balances exports to the eight thousand tons of wheat.
In 1904 there were already two Flour Mills of Dolavon. The Flour Mills worked as profitable until the last years of the 40s, when a provision of the federal government began subsidizing the wheat in the north causing the decline of wheat Patagonicos. In 1985, thanks to the management of the engineer Jorge Gazaneo, who reported that the mill in Dolavon was the only of its kind, which are still in the country and in perfect condition, motivating it to the authorities in Chubut Corfo Dolavon and for Cultural and Historical rescue.
Now restored and in perfect operating conditions, produces flour for visitors to view, admire your taste in typical restaurant (with wood-burning stoves and to Clay Oven), manufactured with a Natural Wheat and Milling Artisan. (Pizza, pasta, bread, cakes, sandwiches, etc.)..

Petrified Woods with Florentino Ameghino Dam:
The petrified wood is constituted by the outcrop of fossil woods as a result of the emplacement of trees which were converted into stone. This fact happened in the same place where these species lived. Even though different foldings and geological pressures have sunk these ancient woods , at present they have arised by time´s erosive action.
It has been proved that by that period ,there was a vegetation almost coastal tropical, with the presence of species that today live in subtropical regions. The oscillations of the sea coast and the presence of coast lagoons as well as a thick vegetation allowed such climate.
Close to Ameghino Dam , fossil vestiges of those woods are found, surrounded by an outstanding landscape of the Chubut River´s upper Valley . At this spot it is possible to see petrified woods which reach up to 16 meters long and 1, 30 metes wide .
At the beginning of the third age, the Andes mountain chain rose and avoided the crossing of wet currents . At the same time, volcanic eruptions happened so the ashes and lava made the current stratum. These ashes covered the original woods and began a slowly organic transformation.
The original material received the deposit of the volcanic material. The process of absorption, impregnation, sustitution and mutilation took place. The fossil keeps its external aspect as a trunk, but its inside structure turned into stone. This process was about 60 millions years ago in our Patagonia.
Despite the fact that the trunks , which are found here have not an outstanding diameter , it is remarkable the length of most of them . Among the big ones it is possible to see quartz formations and occasionally vegetales fruits´fossils.

Whale-watching tours:
During the Southern Right Whales season from June to December, authorized embarkations of no more than 50 passengers leave from the village of Puerto Pirámides for whale-watching.
Lifejackets and capes are provided. The whale-watching tour takes between 1 hour and a half and 2 hours. This depends on the distance where the whales are situated.
